Grandmothers Protecting Our Children Medicine Walk
Welcome and thank you for participating in this, the 15 th “Grandmothers Protecting Our Children Medicine Walk”. The walk around the community is to draw attention to and address concerns of sexual abuse and maltreatment committed against our sacred ones – Children and Youth.
It takes a village to raise a child, and it takes a village to protect them. While the walk is held over the course of this week, it is our collective responsibility to watch out for and protect our children from sexual abuse and maltreatment and be a voice for them every day. It is through our collective voice and efforts that abuse of any kind is not tolerated, and in doing so, we are protecting the next generation from the collateral damage of childhood trauma.
Never doubt that a small group of committed individuals can change the world: indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has. In the past years, they have been joined by hundreds of men, women and children / youth who have walked in solidarity to bring awareness to these issues and to help deliver the message that these violations against children must stop.
